Career qualifications Professional, academically qualified law enforcement, business manager and educator with law enforcement, business , and teaching experience.
Work experience (1966- 1988) BellSouth and AT&T Management positions in engineering and maintenance functions throughout most of North Georgia. Positions held were engineer in Athens (attended UGA) and Griffin; supervising engineer in Carrollton and Rome; plant manager in Newnan; and manager of maintenance in Columbus. In 1983 at the time of the divestiture of the Bell operating companies moved to AT&T and served as manager of environmental safety for the nine southern states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Later held positions in construction of fiber optic cable routes through five field offices in the same regional area. In 1988 took early retirement to go into business for myself. (1988- 1996) General Manager of Waller Transport and Equipment, Inc. a trucking company subcontracting with the GA Department of Transportation hauling construction materials (MPA GCSU). This business was given to my son and daughter in 1996- still operating. (1995- 2004) Adjunct instructor in Criminal Justice at Gordon College. Taught Introduction to Criminal Justice, law enforcement, criminal law, corrections, and criminal investigations. (1997- 2004) Sheriff of Lamar County, managing, organizing, and controlling law enforcement, the courts, and the Lamar County Detention Center. (2000- 2006) Registered mediator for the Georgia Supreme Court in the Sixth Judicial District. Mediated family law, domestic violence, and general mediation cases. (2005- 2006) Owner and CEO of Southern Field Services Corp., a private investigative services firm specializing in provision of services to attorneys in criminal defense cases, litigation and as a consultant/ instructor on weapons of mass destruction with the Georgia Tech Research Institute. (2006- 2008) Instructor in criminal justice, investigations, ethics, criminal procedure, corrections and forensics, and Dean of Technical Studies at Appalachian Technical College in Jasper, GA. (DBA prog. NCU) (2008- present) Campaigned for and was re-elected as Sheriff of Lamar County managing, organizing, and controlling law enforcement, the courts, and the Lamar County Detention Center (D.Min. CTS). (2008- present) Adjunct instructor in criminal justice at Gordon College, teaching introduction to CRJ, investigations, and corrections. Total of 14 years at Gordon College.
